FACILITY:

Located on MLK Blvd & Broadway, our ground floor shop offers a private garage, and all facilities are ADA compliant. Our Academy offers all the amenities of a modern state of the art tattoo shop. This includes modern and classic tattoo machines, fully articulating tattoo specific chairs and beds, an immense collection of high end color and black and grey inks, large Wacom tablets on multiple computers, adjustable ring lights and natural light sources. We provide students with a USB drive with a wealth of information collected from some of the premier names in tattooing. This resource is the students to keep and include written texts, lectures, as well as tutorials to help students along their educational journey. We also offer a large collection of both classic art and tattoo literature for students to use within the facility.
REQUIREMENTS:

During a student’s time at Alchemy Tattoo Academy’s six month and 360 hour curriculum, students will complete the requirements of the Board of Electrologists and Body Art Practitioners set forth by the Oregon Health Agency. These requirements consist of:

• 210 hours of theoretical tattoo studies
• 150 hours of practical tattooing
• A minimum of 50 full tattoo procedures
• Meeting the requirements of Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR), Chapter 331, Division 30

All 360 hours of student training will be supervised by a licensed tattoo artist registered with the Higher Education Coordinating Commission. The registered teacher will provide direct supervision on a one-on-one basis as students preform practical training and tattoo procedures on clients.
Direct
supervision means the teacher is present and actively involved in direct oversight and training of students. Over the course of the 150 hours of practical tattooing students and instructors will keep detailed documentation of the 50 completed procedures. This is defined as “a tattoo that has been finished, including any touchups or additional work following initial healing and the client is released from service”.

Students have a maximum of one year to complete the program, but are encouraged to follow the curriculum and time frame set by Alchemy Tattoo Academy to receive the most from their education. This is especially suggested during the 210 of theory lectures and workshops. If a student has not completed the necessary requirements set forth by the Oregon Health Agency within the calendar year additional fees may apply to continue the program.
